Jorge CARRASCO (1919-2006) - Lot 247
Jorge CARRASCO (1919-2006) "Erotic figure Polished white marble sculpture, signed H: 30 cm Diam: 43 cm Bolivian artist Jorge Carrasco was sent to represent Bolivia at the second Sao Paolo Biennale in 1953. He exhibited alongside Picasso and Matisse, before leaving to paint large-scale murals on sugar production in Rio de Janeiro. Now settled in the Indre region of France, he divides his creative time between painting and sculpture. Driven by an incredible creative energy, he chisels voluptuous rounded forms from the stone block, polished with the palm of his hand, beckoning you to caress them. The work as a whole evokes a cosmogony of modern essence, a transfiguration of the real world into cosmic elements driven by their own dynamism.
