ANCIENT REGIME / RURAL LAW / TOULOUSE (Haute-Garonne). Rulin - Lot 46
ANCIENT REGIME / RURAL LAW / TOULOUSE (Haute-Garonne). Rulings of the Parliament of Toulouse, containing various regulations for the preservation of crops, which prohibit gleaners from entering fields and vineyards to glean until the produce has been harvested by the landowners… Rural police proclamation (85 x 55 cm) compiling a series of rulings by the Parliament of Toulouse issued between 1712 and 1737. The text is printed in three columns. It details the regulations governing the rights to glean, rake up, and gather leftover fruit within the jurisdiction of the Parliament of Toulouse in order to prevent theft prior to harvest. It prohibits gleaners from entering fields and vineyards until the owners have finished bringing in the crops, under penalty of fines and corporal punishment. A vignette featuring the coat of arms of the city of Toulouse appears at the top. Normal creases with some weakness and small losses at the junctions, light foxing, and minor damage along the edges.
