At Balthasar Lobo's, it's the woman earth and spring that is celebrated. Immutable point of reference, eternal starting point; sitting, lying, leaning or kneeling, but always strong and soothing, benevolent goddess. If in the 1950s, forms made the interplay of lines and volumes an essential concern, the reference remains. The curve is hip, and the sphere is head or belly.
