Thierry Chavenon, talks about his paintings, half-voiced, with gentleness but gravity.

Thierry Chavenon, born in 1966, is a painter and film set designer. Creation is a constant in his family: his father is a draughtsman in an architectural firm, while his grandmother works on opera sets.

Graduated from ESAM and won the Production Quality Prize in his class.

He made his film debut in 1989 as a set designer trainee on Luc BESSON's Nikita, then in 1990 on Wim WENDERS' Jusqu'au bout du monde. He became assistant set designer on numerous film productions, including Anne FONTAINE's Coco avant Chanel. In 1999, he became head set decorator, starting with advertising films for Renault Espace, Audi, Peugeot, Canal Plus Cinéma, Cartier, Montblanc, Hugo Boss, Rémy Martin...

Worldwide (USA, South Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe...) for directors such as Baker SMITH, Paul GORE, Neil HARRIS, Robert NYLUND... And French directors such as Michel HAZANAVICIUS, Guillaume CANET, Xavier GIANNOLI... Then came feature films on the other side of the ring, on his own. In 2014, he also became an artist-author.

Exhibits in Paris from 2015 to 2020, in Saint-Germain-Des-Prés Galerie Arcanesn rus de Lille, then rue Bonaparte, and Villa du Square in the sixteenth arrondissement, from 2016 to 2021 in the upper Marais at Galerie JPHT (three solo shows and several group shows).

In December 2022 - January 2023 exhibits this time in an apartment-atelier (listed art deco duplex in the fourteenth arrondissement of Paris). Has paintings in important private collections and in films including WIM WENDERS' Les Beaux jours d'Aranjuez.

He currently has pieces at the Serpette and Paul Bert markets with art dealer Frédéric MICHALAK. From 2013 to 2015, he was an instructor at the Fémis film school, and since 2015, at the 3IS film production university (students in production, scriptwriting and assistant directing).
