We are pleased to present our next sale "CRÉATIONS CONTEMPORAINES".

This is an ONLINE sale, which means you can place your bids right now. The sale itself will start online, on Sunday June 16, 2024 from 2:00 pm, where you can bid in real time.

The sale offers collectors an eclectic selection of 524 works.

It will open with 42 works, including inks and pastels on paper and oils on canvas by the artist Claude JOUHANNEAU, who died in 2011. This will be followed by 21 pieces of Mail art, priced at 10 euros.

As usual, ceramics will be represented with 3 pieces by Hélène VAN DONGEN.

Abstract art with paintings by Nathalie BOSCO, Franck DUMINIL and Jacques VIGOT, figurative art with those by John CHRISTOFOROU, Jean DURANEL, Virginie HILS and Eliane LARUS, photographs by François BERTHIER and Nathalie CUGNOT, and Outsider Art by Mohamed BABAHOUM, Anne-Sophie ATEK, Paul DUHEM, JABER, Alain LACOSTE, John McKIE and SANFOURCHE.

A work on paper by Mimmo PALADINO, lot 260, will be offered to fans of the Italian Trans-avant-garde.

Claude JOUHANNEAU (1931-2011)

Claude Jouhanneau's drawings, inks on paper and richly textured canvases feature recurring themes of still life, landscape and studio views. After graduating from the Beaux-Arts in his native Tours, he attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and then the Arts Appliqués in Paris. In the 60s, he took part in the Salons de la Jeune Peinture at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, and in 1976, he exhibited in Tours with Manessier, Alechinsky and Bram Van Velde. The Galerie du Haut Pavé and the Galerie Nevers in Paris, the Galerie Sisley in Brussels and the Maison de la Culture in Sceaux subsequently presented his work in special exhibitions. Claude Jouhanneau is a tireless observer of the world around him, and brings it vividly to life through his use of color, his lively gestures and his mastery of composition, whatever the medium. A diffuse, captivating light emerges from the dense, grainy, matte pictorial layer, which is sometimes ultramarine and black, sometimes predominantly white.

A posthumous exhibition of his work was held in 2016 at Galerie Deneulin and La Grange du Boissieu, near Grenoble.
