The Mont Blanc and the Chamouni valley - 1861 Oil on canvas (lined). Signed lower right and dated. 75 x 100 cm (restorations). Our painting, representing the Chamonix valley, was presented at the 1861 Salon under the n° 2415 of the booklet. As a painter of sites, Ouvrié often focuses on describing the mountains. Skillful draftsman, he built his reputation on the fidelity with which he transcribed landscapes, sites, houses, castles, monuments and views of cities, which were ordered to him, leading him to travel throughout France, but also in Germany, Switzerland, Holland.
