Decree of the Central Administration of the Department of Isère Concerning the Stationing of Military Garrisons at the Homes of the Relatives of Requisitioners, Conscripts, and Deserters. Dated 8 Prairial, Year VII of the French Republic (May 27, 1799). Poster (45 x 30 cm) printed in Grenoble by the J. L. A. Giroud Printing House, Place aux Herbes. Coercive decree authorizing the punitive and compulsory quartering of a military garrison (composed of two citizens from the mobile column) directly in the homes of the fathers, mothers, and other relatives of fugitive conscripts, draft evaders, or deserters, at the families’ expense, under penalty of seizure of their personal property. Signed Martin (President) and B. Royer (Chief Secretary). Handwritten notes in pencil, creases, signs of wear, a missing section in the lower right corner that does not affect the text.
