RESTAURATION / HUNDRED DAYS / FOIX (ARIÈGE) / THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARIÈGE. ON A PERMANENT BASIS, To the Residents of the Same Department. ARIÈGEOIS. Poster (46 x 36 cm) printed in Foix, dated March 22, 1815. The header is illustrated with a vignette featuring the Coat of Arms of France under a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis. A historical document attesting to the region’s royalist loyalty at the very beginning of the Hundred Days, immediately following the return of Napoleon I. The text urges resistance and loyalty to the Bourbons: “The Oriflamme is unfurled,” and calls for the organization of volunteer corps. Handwritten note in pencil; normal creases; a few faint foxing spots; damage along the edges.
