CENT-JOURS / GOLFE JUAN / PARIS. Order of the Day. Paris, Tuesday, March 7, 1815. Folio-sized document (34 x 21 cm) comprising two pages of text. Typographic letterhead of the “General Staff” of the “National Guard of France.” Signed in print at the end of the document by the Minister of State, Peer of France, and Major General of the National Guard, Count Dessolle. This document was published just two days after the official announcement in Paris of Napoleon’s landing at Golfe-Juan, ordering the immediate mobilization of law enforcement forces to halt the former Emperor’s advance. The text begins with the official announcement of the event: “A telegraphic dispatch and a letter informed the King that Buonaparte had left the island of Elba and landed at Cannes… with a thousand men and four cannons.” Slight foxing and marginal browning.
