FRANCE. POST WAR. Peace and Freedom. Monogram. La Colombe qui fait boum. Circa 1949. Lithographic poster. Bears the stamp of "Imprimerie Spéciale de Paix et Liberté". Wrapped, good condition: minor foxing. 60 x 75 cm Bibliography: Philippe Buton - Laurent Gervereau. Le couteau entre les dents. Editions du Chêne. 1989. Page 89: variant. During the Cold War, art and the media were used to mobilize minds. In the early 1950s, the USSR and the Communists presented themselves as the camp of peace, in opposition to the Americans, who were developing the H-bomb. In 1949, the PCF developed a pacifist campaign using a dove designed by Picasso. A French politician, Jean-Paul David, head of the "Paix et liberté" agency, organized a counter-campaign using Communist themes and images.
