SESOW Matt Untitled / Mixed media on paper / Signed and date - Lot 462
SESOW Matt Untitled / Mixed media on paper / Signed and dated 08 lower middle / 30.5 x 23 cm Born in 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 8, a plane crash changed the course of his life. He lost an arm, fortunately regrafted by the doctors, but his right hand remained amputated. He did, however, take part in the disabled Olympic Games as a member of the US team. In 1985 he was awarded a scholarship, and in 1988 graduated with a degree in computer science. It was at this time that he began to draw on his own. In 1993, he began to paint more and more at weekends and in the evenings; his works were inspired by his childhood trauma. In 1995, Matt SESOW continued to paint, selling 14 paintings in one afternoon on the streets of Georgetown.
