KASH ART by KASTELLAN Batman - 1 / Stencil and spray on real dollar bill / Dated 2023, numbered 21 of 100 and signed on reverse / 6.6 x 15.6 cm "Kash Art by Kastellan currently resides in Croatia. His creations are inspired by images that are cultural references as widespread as the dollar itself. Understandable by all, their impact is universal. Kastellan began his artistic journey at the age of 14, using aerosol cans. Over the years, his work has grown in scope and ambition. Although he still favors spray paint, the nature of his work has evolved considerably. He reuses the banknote as his primary medium, seeing it as more than just a currency: it embodies a multifaceted symbol of power, consumerism and aesthetics. Having grown up in the golden age of television, his creations are imbued with the vibrant essence of 90s cartoons and classic characters from previous decades, drawing inspiration from icons such as **Bugs Bunny**, **Tom and Jerry**, **Donald Duck**, **Scooby-Doo**, **Popeye** and **Garfield**. Using a unique stencilling technique, Kastellan achieves impeccably clean lines that often lead viewers to mistakenly believe that they are stickers on currency. In reality, these patterns are meticulously sprayed in several layers using bright colors. He affectionately describes his creations as "eye candy". In recent years, he has embarked on a number of new projects, including "McFries", in which he transforms iconic McDonald's French fry boxes, giving them a new function.
