TIRMARCHE Maurice. Untitled. 1972. Silkscreen on orange grou - Lot 377
TIRMARCHE Maurice. Untitled. 1972. Silkscreen on orange ground. Numbered 66/100, signed lower right and dated on verso. Very good condition. 65 x 50 cm Maurice Tirmarche is an artist who took part, among other movements, in "Op art", or optical art, a term used to describe certain artistic practices and research carried out from the 1960s onwards, which exploit the fallibility of the eye through illusions or optical games. Works of op art give the impression of movement, flashes of light and vibration or alternating movements. These visual stimuli place the viewer's body in an unstable situation, between pleasure and displeasure, plunged into a sensation of vertigo akin to certain states of mild intoxication.
