MAINTENON Madame de : Manuscript collection of conversations with Madame de Maintenon, probably copied by her secretary, Mlle d'AUMALE. Two in-8 volumes bound in full burgundy chagrin, Mlle d'AUMALE's coat of arms on both boards, richly decorated 5-rib spine, three gilt edges. 360 and 60 pages in-8, in tight, highly legible handwriting. Marie-Jeanne d'AUMALE was chosen by the wife of the King of France at the age of 22 to accompany her, both at Court and at the Royal House of Saint-Louis in Saint-Cyr, where she established a school for young girls.
