Lord of the Rings. Village of Brée. Richard POISSON. - Lot 1
Lord of the Rings. Village of Brée. Richard POISSON.
Diorama of the village of Brée and the "Poney Fringant" inn, created by artist Richard Poisson.
This unique creation was produced in 1998/1999.
Richard Poisson began entering figurine competitions at the age of 15, winning numerous awards in national and international competitions (Europe and U.S.A.). In 1997, he was named "World Master" at the Chicago Hilton. He has painted over 1,000 figurines (from 2.5cm to 12cm in height) and created a number of famous dioramas ( 1999: "Le Village de Brée", 2000: "Laurana", 2004: "La colère de Sauron", 2008: "Louis XI et Charles le Téméraire", 2022: "Où est Charlie" ). He also judges international competitions and writes articles for specialized miniature magazines.
The Village de Brée diorama features 70 characters and 7 animals. 52 figurines come from Mithril brand kits (25mm). They include the well-known characters Bilbo, Gandalf, Sam, Frodom, Merry, Pipin, Prosper and GrandPas. The figures are painted in oil (with acrylic undercoats). The backdrops (house facades, furnishings, fountain) were created by Richard Poisson.
The diorama features a busy street leading to the village square. The impression of depth and life is accentuated by the lighted windows and open doors of the houses. On the right-hand side of the diorama, two windows reveal the interior of the house on the right (on the 1st floor, the scene of Bilbo handing the magic ring to Gandalf, and on the first floor, the draper's store). On the left side of the diorama, two windows show the interior of the house on the left (on the 1st floor, the belle's bedroom; on the first floor, the Frisky Pony Inn).
The artist signed his work on the pediment of the fireplace in the belle's bedroom.
A certificate of authenticity is provided.
Diorama measurements:
Height: 40 cm, width: 52 cm, depth: 55 cm
This diorama was described by Richard Poisson in the Oct/Nov 1999 issue of "Figurines" magazine.
This diorama is a remarkable work by an exceptional artist. T.B.E.
