Uono Jisei (Japan, 1883 - c.1944) Pair of square lacquer trays with almost similar decoration in hira maki-e of gold and silver lacquer on a gyobu nashiji background of bamboo leaves sprinkled with snow, the rims and reverse in ro-iro lacquer. Signed on the reverse in Jisei saku gold lacquer. 31.9 x 31.7 x 4.5 cm In their double tomobako, the inner one with two compartments, inscribed Yukimochi kumazasa maki-e sogai (pair of maki-e trays decorated with snow-covered sasa veitchii leaves) and signed Jisei with the Uono Jisei stamp.
