H: 76 cm W: 240 cm D: 125 cm (Scratches) Born in 1965, Van der Straeten is an independent artist-designer, first known for his jewelry creations. Today, he is world-renowned for his furniture and lighting, immediately recognizable by the way they combine contrasting materials, bold variations in form and daring volumes, with perfect precision, proportion and attention to detail. He designs and manufactures his creations in his own bronze and cabinet-making workshops, and exhibits a selection of his pieces, both one-offs and limited editions, in his Paris gallery. The artist-designer is also renowned for his projects with French luxury houses. Van der Straeten has received numerous distinctions from the French government over the course of his career, including the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
