The central stem is chased with scrolls and rocaille, ending in a bouquet of foliage. Parisian work from the second half of the 19th century. H. 65 cm. L. 28 cm. Weight: 11,900 g (approx.) Small cracks. Founded in 1690, the Odiot firm has been renowned since Jean-Baptiste Gaspard Odiot (1692-1767), son of Gaspard Odiot (1665-1709), Master in 1720 and father of Jean-Claude Odiot (1722-1788). His son, Jean-Baptiste Claude Odiot (1763-1850), was awarded his master's degree in 1785 and became Napoleon I's prestigious silversmith. His company was taken over in 1826 by his son, Charles Nicolas Odiot (1789-1868), who became supplier to Louis-Philippe I and the Orléans family. The company was taken over by his son Jean-Baptiste Gustave Odiot (1823-1912) in 1856. Heir to a long family tradition, he perpetuated the company's excellence and innovation, combining neoclassical and rococo styles while integrating modern techniques. Gustave Odiot's work was recognized at international exhibitions, including the Paris World's Fairs, where he received several awards, notably for silver services, monumental table pieces and decorative objects. He supplied the Imperial Court of Napoleon III and the Tsar's Court. Having no children of his own, he formed a new company in 1894 with Émile Prévost and Paul Edouard Récipon, founding Odiot Prévost Récipon et Cie until 1906. = EXPERT: Florian DOUX = 06 88 41 86 62
