Paul VALERY - Lot 253
Paul VALERY
Published by Le Capitole Paris 1926. First edition. One of 36 ex. hors commerce, this one n°VIII specially printed for Mme Boylesve, ex. on Japon. Long, handsome autograph letter signed "to Madame René Boylesve. Nothing moved me more in my life than to receive, three days after René Boylesve's death, the proofs of the article he had just written about me. This prose, so flattering to me, so elegant itself, seemed to come out of the peat. I was seized by this voice that I no longer expected. My departed friend was saying a wonderful farewell to me. And I couldn't answer him", dated June 1926.
Paperback in-8, spine yellowed and blind, fragile and with small tears, inside fresh.
