Jacques BAINVILLE : - Lot 40
Jacques BAINVILLE :
Correspondence addressed to Georges Grappe.
Set of 35 autographed letters and cards from Jacques Bainville to his friend from the Lycée Henri IV, and an abundant letter-answer from the latter. In them, we read a young Bainville sharing his abortive intentions to write novels, a few verses, political and literary considerations, and regularly mentioning his Louis II de Bavière (Perrin 1900). The letters range from August 10, 1896 to 1935, the most numerous and longest being those from 1896 to 1898.
Interesting set on the young Bainville, mounted on tabs in an in-8 full garnet morocco binding, 5-rib spine uniformly faded, gold lettering, three gilt edges, full taupe morocco countersills, framed with gold edging, slipcase, binding signed Semet et Plumelle.
