See images History: Partisans is a monthly magazine founded in Paris in 1924 by a group of artists, painters and sculptors close to Communist circles, as reflected in its first additional title: "Revue coopérative internationale, Arts, Lettres - Organe mensuel du groupe Partisans". Deeply involved in the defense of the art of its time, it presents its editors as "partisans of a crusade against inverted art and literature". More concretely, it claims to defend art against political, social or customary oppression. From 1927 onwards, Partisans gave greater prominence to artistic events. It devoted several articles to French and international art fairs (Salon des Indépendants, Salon des Tuileries, Salon d'Automne, etc.). In 1929, Partisans ceased publication for a year, before reappearing in 1930 with two short-lived issues. The January-February 1930 issue was organized by Serge-Henri Moreau, Georges Chauvet, Jean Ithier, Andrey-Prévost, Jehan Berjonneau and Caspard-Maillol. (Cf inha).
