JAPAN - EDO period (1603 - 1868), 19th century Maru gata in iron imitating the plates of a kabuto, the rivets inlaid with shibuichi, and inlaid in taka zogan with shibuichi, copper and gilded copper with a shishi head forming a maedate. The hitsu-ana are filled with gilded copper. Bears the apocryphal signature Yamashiro (no) Kuni Nishijin (no) ju Umetada Miyôju tsukuru and the apocryphal date Keichô jûgo kanoe-inu (no) toshi (15th year of Keicho [1610]).
