JAPAN - Late EDO period (1603 - 1868) Nagamaru gata in openwork iron kage-sukashi with a branch on which sits a monkey in iroe taka zogan of shibuichi and copper, its eyes inlaid with gold. On the other side, branches of flowers inlaid in silver and gold hira zogan. Dated Winter of the Year of the Boar (1863) and illegibly signed. H. 8.3 cm. Reproduced in Patrick Liebermann, Tsuba.
