ASPIN Jehoshaphat - Lot 16
ASPIN Jehoshaphat
Cosmorama: the manners, customs, and costumes of all nations of the world. New edition, illustrated with engravings. John Harris London 1834. 22 plates of costumes in color, the first edition appeared in 1826, with only 15 plates, and the pamphlet, an amiable popularization, went through many editions until the 1850s. The author's implausible name is in fact a pseudonym concealing a woman writer of status, who, according to custom, could hardly write under her real name. Publisher's binding, in-16 square, blue percaline, smooth spine, cold fillet framing the boards, title in gilt lettering on the first board.
