IMPORTANT SOTEN TSUBA OMI province, early 18th century, in iron signed in KINMEI GOSHU IKONE JU on the reverse TAI SAN DO 7.43 cm x 7.35 cm, thickness 4.6 mm. Finely chased and gold-inlaid decoration of a figure under pine trees and another riding a dragon. Circumference encircled by a sentoku fukurin (minor accident to the mimi). Tai San Do was a pupil of SOTEN SHUTEN MUNENORI the first, renowned for his skill and the finesse of his work. TAI SAN DO tsuba are rare and sought-after by collectors. Delivered in its box.
