This family originally from lida (Shinsu) settled in Seki (Mino) and then in Ichijodani in ECHIZEN as vassals of the ASAKURA clan. SHIGE TAKA worked in the Yasutsugu workshops, and the use of foreign steel and strong resemblances to the work of this school are evident.
The title HARIMA DAIJO awarded to the 3rd generation.
TAKASUGI SHINSAKU, a famous samurai of the Bakumatsu period, owned a SHIGETAKA blade.
Two SHIGE TAKA blades are in the British Museum.
