Gustave LOISEAU (1865-1935) - Lot 64
Gustave LOISEAU (1865-1935) Garden at Nesle-la-Vallée, 1897 Oil on canvas (re-oiled) Signed lower right 54 x 65 cm This work has been archived with Mr. Didier Imbert since 1986. Advised by Paul Gauguin, whom he met in Pont-Aven, and then promoted by Durand-Ruel, Loiseau belonged to the Post-Impressionist movement. Like some of his colleagues, Loiseau liked to depict gardens in different seasons. This garden at Nesle-la-Vallée, near Pontoise, where Loiseau lived, is one such series.
