"Les jouets C.R, Invention et Fantaisie", (Les Jouets C. Rossignol & C. Roitel), Mick Duprat, Ed. Massin, 1998. Book in very good condition. The toys C. Rosssignol & C. Roitel The Rossignol and Roitel families married each other and the boys of this toy dynasty were all named Charles. Charles Rossignol, the first of the line, was the author of many discoveries, including the pen and the box spring. From 1868, confronted with the ingratitude of adults, he enters the wonderful world of toys where he imagines, in particular, for children, the faithful reproduction of original models and their assembly by stapling. His creations contribute to the success of the Manufacture de jouets C.R. and his competitors quickly imitate him. To the inventive spirit of Charles Rossignol comes to graft the whimsical spirit of Charles Roitel. This is why generations of girls and boys have owned toys that are sometimes quite bizarre. Thus, during 94 years, millions of small automatons, horse-drawn carriages, aeroplanes, boats, streetcars, railroads, beach toys, penny-toys, musical toys, civil, military, sport and utility cars, fire trucks, buses and ambulances were made. There are 2000 C.R. products in this book. They are broken down by type, reference, year of production, dimensions, mechanism systems, detailed observations and quotations. Indispensable to any amateur, this book, illustrated with more than 500 photos, also bears witness to the adventure of the toy in the world of the industrial era.
