Ecole AUTRICHIENNE, début du XIXème siècle - Lot 151
Ecole AUTRICHIENNE, début du XIXème siècle Portrait of Emperor Joseph II Canvas 53 x 42 cm Our painting is a repeat of two anonymous portraits of Joseph II of the same composition. One of them was sold at the Vienna Dorotheum on March 6, 1996, no. 352, reproduced, (see A. Schmitt - Vorster, Pro Deo et Populo, Die Porträts Josephs II, Munich, 2006, no. 171, reproduced). The second, of reduced dimensions, belongs to a private collection in Graz (see catalog of the exhibition Österreich zur Zeit Kaiser Joseph II, Melk Abbey, 1980, no. 1627, reproduced). We would like to thank Mr. Martin Mutschlechner for the information in this leaflet.
