ROPS Félicien - Lot 396
ROPS Félicien Long autograph letter signed by Félicien Rops, addressed to M. E Lefèvre in London and posted on November 10, 1883. In it he informs him of his new address in the rue du marché des blancs manteaux, and describes the district where he finds the streets ugly but the apartments bright, pleasant and cheap. He worries about being able to send his friend a copy of the sphynge and the woman with the pig: "I believe that the English censorship would not let pass engravings having as representation of the ladies with hairs in the pubis???" and in a postscript of his work La grande Lyre that he fears victim of the English prudery of which he jokes with irreverence. He also talks about his collaboration with La Revue Française which he considers nutritious, mentions his friend Maupassant and Mme Ancelot, promises to talk about Baudelaire "and at great length, in the next letter. I may be able to entrust you with a letter from Baudelaire to reproduce". 4 pages in-12 recto-verso, envelope
