Jules Verne.
Around the world in 80 days. Doctor Ox. Ill. by de Neuville and Benett (Le tour du monde...) and by Bertrand, Froelich, Th. Schuler, Bayard and Marie (Le docteur Ox). Paris, Bibliothèque d'éducation et de récréation, J. Hetzel. S.D. (1891). Large in. 8 double. Publisher's cardboard in polychrome percaline "with printed portrait" with lighthouse spine, bound by Lenègre (second plate type "E"). Gilt edges. Original endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. Catalog "FN" in fine for 1890-91. The "printed" portrait binding is uncommon for all titles (except for Mistress Branican) as it lasted only one year before being replaced by the "glued portrait" binding. It is the very first "lighthouse back" binding, which explains the darker golds. Nice gutter. Cartonnage a little dull as often with slight resumptions.
