Jules Verne.
Around the world in 80 days. Doctor Ox. Ill. by de Neuville and Benett (Le tour du monde...) and by Bertrand, Froelich, Th. Schuler, Bayard and Marie (Le docteur Ox). Paris, Bibliothèque d'éducation et de récréation, J. Hetzel. S.D. (1876). Large in. 8 double. Red percaline publisher's cardboard "aux deux éléphants", bound by Engel (second plate type "B" with palmettes). Gilt edges. Original endpapers. Imp. Gauthier-Villars. Catalog "J" in fine for 1877. The "two elephants" of Engel are much rarer than those of Lenègre and are earlier than the latter since they are concomitant of the "banner" cartonnages. Amusing anecdote for this title, the concomitant "à la bannière" binding keeps as first title "Le docteur Ox" (original order) whereas here, for the first time, the Tour du monde goes before. First plate and spine bright. Interior free of foxing. Minor defects of use.
