Dragonflies and ranunculus Rare ovoid bottle with a small straight neck in multi-layered blown glass, with acid-etched, hot-applied and wheel-mounted decoration of green and yellow dragonflies and ranunculus on a mauve-blue vitrified background Stopper in the form of fleur-de-lis Signed " Daum Nancy " About 1904 H : 23 cm Bibliography: - Katharina BÜTTIKER, " Daum Nancy Maitres Verriers ", Katharina Büttiker gallery, Zurich, 2001, for the same decoration on a cup reproduced on pages 80-81 - " Daum, Maîtres verriers ", Edita Denoël, Italy, 1980, for the same decoration on page 76. - Collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy, "Daum", for the same decoration on page 156. Daum dans les Musées de Nancy", variant of the model reproduced on page 45. Of exceptional finesse and rarity, this bottle constitutes a synthesis of the main techniques of glasswork. Indeed, we find the application of glass added to hot and the wheel engraving for the dragonflies creating a relief on the face of the vase, vitrifications and acid etching for the rest have given life and color to the stagnant water, aquatic flowers and the dappled sky.
