Coelestium corporum, et rerum ab ipsis pendentium accurata explication per instrumenta, rotulas, & figuras. Venice: Jacobus Antonius Somasci, 1605. In-4. Title printed in red and black with the printer's vignette featuring a centaur. 144 woodcuts including 51 volvelles (missing the movable part at the volvelle p. 231), large folding table containing the table of logarithms. Contemporary ivory vellum with flaps, handwritten title on spine. (Notes on the title partly erased and at the end of the volume, foxing, small worm work in the white margin.) FIRST EDITION under this title of the work which was first published in 1588 and which bore the title Theatrum Mundi. This edition contains the same text and illustrations as the first; curiously, the volvelle on page 231 was also missing from the original Honeyman edition. The large woodcuts feature diagrams, terrestrial and celestial spheres, zodiacs and constellations. Houzeau-Lancaster 2725.
