Small in-folio full brown calf, finely embossed leather framed boards, spine with 4 nerves, beige title-piece glued on the second box, "Chronique de Philippe de Comines" handwritten in black ink. Printed in Lyon, Claude Noury, known as Le Prince, April 12, 1526. Printed in French and in gothic characters. Letters. Title page printed in black and red, decorated with a frame of 4 woodcuts as well as in the center: sign of the printer with the red heart mark surmounted by a crown framed by his motto. A full page engraving precedes it, representing Louis XI on his throne surrounded by his advisors. On the verso of the last page, a handwritten sentence "Sit nomen domini benedictum ". A few wormholes in the margins otherwise fresh inside. RARE. Fifth gothic edition and first Lyon edition of this first part of the Chronicles of the reign of Louis XI, published two years earlier in Paris. Last separate edition of this chronicle, which was later reunited with that of the reign of Charles VIII published in 1528. A rare and beautiful copy of these chronicles, which are major, both from the point of view of language and of the history of the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
