STUDIO PRISUNIC FRIEDEMANN HAUSS. Prisunic Summer 70. silk-screen print. PP advertising. Trapinex Caen. Covered, very good condition: small chip without missing in the yellow background, bright and fresh colors. 156,5 x 116 cm Friedemann Hauss is a German graphic designer who lives and works in Paris since 1967. He was hired by Raymond Loewy's Compagnie d'Esthétique Industrielle to design the Shell shell, and then joined the Prisunic design studio team. Bibliography: Beaux-Arts Editions. Exhibition from Prisunic to Monoprix, a French adventure. Musée des Arts décoratifs 2022. Page 43. On December 1, 1921, the Prisunic chain of stores was launched. From the outset, the chain opted for two guidelines: a popular downtown retailer and a promoter of design by focusing on beautiful, modern shapes at low prices. This is the adventure of beauty for all. Vision, strategy, marketing and communication are at the heart of the work of Jacques Gueden and Denise Fayolle, respectively General Manager of Prisunic from 1946 to 1972. They invented brands, the "Prisu style" with graphic and colorful codes. For the visual communication of spaces and products, they did not hesitate to call upon the best graphic designers, photographers or stylists: Jean-Michel Folon, Friedemann Hauss, Roman Cieslewicz, Peter Knapp, Andrée Putmann, etc.... We present a beautiful set of 18 posters all between 1970 and 1975, made by Patricia Petit, Claude Genet, Ghislaine de Vachon, Patrick Paillat and for the most emblematic posters by Friedemann Hauss. This is the first time that such a complete set of posters has been presented for public sale or simply to the public since their publication, since most of them are not included in the exhibition currently taking place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs: From Prisunic to Monoprix, a French Adventure (until May 15, 2022). Friedemann Hauss is a German graphic designer who has lived and worked in Paris since 1967. Hired by Raymond Loewy's Compagnie d'Esthétique Industrielle to design the Shell shell, he then joined the Prisunic design studio team. "Summer 70" was exhibited in the street and in the subway, it is the only Prisunic poster exhibited in the street and on this occasion, it received the prize for the most beautiful poster 1970. Friedemann Hauss was inspired by the design of Martial Raysse and Tom Wesselman, who were directly linked to the Pop Art movement. "Electrophone" (which we attribute to Friedemann Hauss. Circa 1970) and "Plouf! Vive l'été" (Friedemann Hauss. 1971) are two very beautiful silkscreens with bright colors. These posters in the smallest format, were laminated on strong cardboard and hung at the entrance of the shelves, accompanied for some of them, the corresponding banners in width that we also present in our sale. The Prisu style, which marked its time, gradually disappeared after 1976 in the face of other competing brands that did not hesitate to draw inspiration from it.
