André MASSON
5 letters and 1 card, autographed, to Henri Parisot. 10 pp. in-4 and in-8. Lyons-la-Forêt and La Sablonnière, [1939] - 1946 and without date. Interesting correspondence, in particular for the illustration of Mythologies. He sends him the elements and congratulates him for the translation of Coleridge's poem. "Max-Pol Fouchet wrote to me about a letter, sent to me, concerning "Mythologies", a letter that was lost, and I forgot to tell him that I (I think?) omitted to date each part (this is important, isn't it for the "future scholiastes"). So it is like this: Mythology of Nature (1938) / Mythology of Being (1939) / The Emblematic Man (1940) (only one drawing is from 1938 in this part)." He would be happy to do the sets for Lewis Carroll if it ever plays out. "I realize that something is a little off in the text of The Mythology of Being: it's the last legend. Instead of : When the arrow of existence reaches its goal: LIFE! it would be nice to (more calmly) print [...]. All my sketches for the Old Sailor and the other Coleridge poems are done. I will make the lithos at the beginning of June in Paris [...]".
