Max ERNST & Leonora CARRINGTON
2 cards and 1 letter, autograph signed, to Henri Parisot, written by Max Ernst and co-signed by Leonora Carrington. The letter is with the heading of the hotel-restaurant of Saint-Martin d'Ardèche. 2 pp. in-12 and 2 pp. in-4. Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche, 1938-1939. "Thank you very much for the readings you send me. I like the lightning rod man very much. I will try to do rapido for the frontispiece. Could you ask G.L.M. not to forget the dedication to L. Fini in the Oval Lady [...]". "I don't have The Lightning Man with me (I am down in the village and the Lightning Man is up in my hamlet) [...]. Listen now: Lévis-Mano has so much ticked off the collages of the Oval Lady, that I really don't want to entrust him with a frontispiece for The Lightning Man again. On the other hand, he responds to my just demands in such an impertinent tone that I have no desire to do anything with him. If the second series of your entertainment continues to appear with him, I would prefer not to take part in it (Leonora and me, we had indeed started a tale in collaboration for this series) [...]". He asks Parisot to collect all his collages from G.L.M. "The weather is nice and warm, I make a lot of sculptures".
