Jacques BRUNIUS - Lot 51
Jacques BRUNIUS 10 autograph letters signed and 1 autograph manuscript, to Henri Parisot. 29 pp. in-4 and in-8. Remington, Vevey, London, June 1945 - September 1948. Nice and long literary correspondence, especially about surrealism. He shares with her his feelings about literary magazines and surrealism. "What terrifies me in Paris is old age. All these magazines seem to be run by gentlemen who have no other ambition than to do the NRF (at best) or the Revue des Deux mondes. The height of modernity is to copy Commerce or Mesures. It is absolutely necessary to renew contact between all those who do not yet have the style beard [...]. It's damn satisfying to see you publish something. I was beginning to wonder if surrealism was not, as so many sacristans have said, dead. Not that I believe in a decline in the validity of surrealist ideas, but after all surrealism could have died for lack of fighters, even if it meant being reborn later or elsewhere under another name [...]". By following the thread of this rich literary correspondence, we cross the names of Roland Penrose, André Breton, Max-Pol Fouchet. One of the letters is accompanied by a manuscript of 3 pages carrying corrections to a text.
