Important brooch in gold 750 thousandths, stylizing the Divinity of ancient Egypt Nekhbet, the wings half deployed, enclosing the symbol of eternity Shen, the whole enhanced by polychrome enamel The back signed Chaumet Paris, master mark "J.C.", monogrammed SFC dated 1967, engraved with a lotus motif and hieroglyphs probably meaning "ânkh oudja seneb" translatable as "life, strength, health". Gross weight : 47,40 g. Size : 8,7 x 4,8 cm. In the Egyptian mythology, Nekhbet is represented under the features of a vulture sometimes with head of woman. She symbolizes the protection of Upper Egypt and the pharaoh. Our brooch, most likely a special commission, appears to be a reproduction of a pectoral of Tutankhamen now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The original is in gold set with lapis lazuli and hard stones.
