Biography: René AUBERT (1894-1977) He attended the Academy of the Grande Chaumière and then the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was a student of Lucien Simon. Initially a draftsman, he covered court cases for the press, including the trial of Henri Désiré Landru in 1921,4 then all the trials in Versailles, such as that of Joseph Roëlants, known as "the Vésinet brawler" in February 1935. At the same time, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1926 to 1942, receiving several prizes and distinctions, while at the same time, from 1927 onwards, the quality of his press drawings led to requests for illustrations in the publishing world. Professor of drawing in the city of Versailles, he was appointed in 1938 director of the School of Art (which will become the School of Fine Arts in 1953), and will retain this position until 1966 ?
