"Maitre Izard" Pencil drawing, signed lower right. Framed under glass, 30 x 24 cm. A thesis on the artist is enclosed. Biography : Georges IZARD (1903-1973) His name was to be associated with the defense of major cases : Kravtchenko against Les Lettres françaises, Claudel against Maurras, the bey of Tunis and the sultan of Morocco, whose interests he defended during the decolonization crises, the Rothschild family and Daniel Wildenstein in tax cases, François Mitterrand and the weekly magazine L'Express in political cases. He was also the lawyer of the writer Jacques Chardonne. Author of several essays, Georges Izard was elected to the Académie française on February 11, 1971, by 16 votes in the first round, in the chair of Henri Massis. He was received by Pierre-Henri Simon on November 18, 1971.
