Sale Blache December 3, 1972. Biography: In 1819, the mameluke "Ali" married an English woman in the person of Miss Mary Hall, governess of the children of Grand Marshal Bertrand. Two years later, the recognition due to his devotion earned Saint-Denis a place in Napoleon's will. Not content with bequeathing him a substantial sum of money, the Emperor honored him by instructing him to pass on part of his library to the former king of Rome.
