Academy of Moral Sciences Sword of the model of the swords of academy of Restoration period, offered by the personnel of the town hall of Versailles to Mr. the Mayor, André Damien, on the occasion of his election to the Academy of the moral sciences. Present from the Versailles town hall to Mr. André Damien, their mayor. Mounting in gilded and chased brass. Spindle with mother-of-pearl plates, decorated on the front with the motif of "Isis Pharia", reinforced on the sides with gilded brass plates decorated with interlacing. Pommel chased with shells and a flower. The guard is chased with foliage, flowers and lilies, with a flowery quillon curved downwards. Traditional shell chased with spider web and peacock feathers. Triangular blade engraved, gilded and blued with a third of foliage, signed on the heel "ISB". Metal scabbard covered with black chagrin, with two cut and engraved brass fittings. Chape with small oval button, engraved on the back "Sword offered by the staff of the Versailles City Hall to André Damien, mayor, elected to the Academy of Moral Sciences on December 12, 1994". Bouterolle engraved with round stinger. Length : 87 cm. B.E. Beautiful model. André DAMIEN (born on July 10, 1930 in Paris and died on March 5, 2019 in Versailles) was a French lawyer, politician and writer. Elected to the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in 1994 in the chair of Professor Henri Mazeaud, he was president of the Academy in 2006. He was named honorary president of the Académie des sciences morales, des lettres et des arts de Versailles, honorary mayor of Versailles, and honorary state councilor. Functions : Member of Parliament, 1996-1997, State Councillor, 1981-1987, President Conference of Bar Presidents, 1979-1981, General Councillor, 1979-1998, Mayor of Versailles 1977-1995, President of the Bar 1969-1971 and 1973-1976.
