Rare ewer vase with ribbed vegetable body in ceramic with iridescent glaze and metallic luster, eosin glaze in the green copper and red tones 800 silver frame decorated with flower pistils and a snake coiled on the handle Signed with the stamp of the five churches annotated "ZSOLNAY PECS", numbered and goldsmith's and title marks About 1898-1900 H : 19 cm Vilmos Zsolnay, born in Pécs, is a Hungarian porcelain industrialist, at the head of the Zsolnay porcelain factory from 1853 to 1900. Vilmos Zsolnay mastered the art of ceramics to perfection and successfully experimented with various glazing techniques. His works were acclaimed in 1874, in Vienna, during the World Fair and in 1878, during the World Fair in Paris. The "Zsolnay technique" won the gold medal and Vilmos received the Legion of Honour for inventing eosin. Eosin is a very high quality varnish that gives earthenware an iridescent metallic appearance. This coloured lustre made the fortune of Zsolnay who won many prizes over the years as well as in 1900, in Paris, during the World Fair. Oscar Julius Dietrich is a goldsmith active in Vienna between 1881 and 1924. He participated in the Paris Exposition in 1900 and in 1925. Designs by Franz Delavilla, Emanuel Josef Margold, Dagobert Peche and the architects Hans Bolek and A.O. Holub. The workshop ended in 1931.
