[PROUST]. RIVIÈRE, Jacques (1886-1925), homme de lettres fra - Lot 98
[PROUST]. RIVIÈRE, Jacques (1886-1925), homme de lettres français, directeur de la NRF. Proofs corrected by Jacques Rivière, from an excerpt from Marcel Proust's La Prisonnière, with the autograph title "Propos de 'sacristie'". [1923]. 10 pp. ½ in-4. "M. de Charlus began again at the moment when the music was finished, his guests took leave of him, the same mistake as when they arrived. He did not ask them to go to the Patroness, to associate her and her husband with the gratitude that was being shown to her [...]". About fifty corrections, often typographical. This is a passage from the musical evening at the Verdurin's, organized by the Baron de Charlus in honor of Morel her lover. Mr. de Charlus, who is delighted to introduce Morel to his prestigious guests, completely forgets that the reception is held at Mrs. Verdurin's house. The Patroness is not greeted by any guest and feels very badly about this affront. La Prisonnière was published in 1923 in the N.R.F. only a few months after the death of its author (November 18, 1922). This text was intended for publication in the review Intentions directed by Pierre-André May.
