PISSARRO, Paul-Émile (1884-1972), peintre néo-impressionnist - Lot 91
PISSARRO, Paul-Émile (1884-1972), peintre néo-impressionniste français, fils de Camille Pissarro. 2 L.A.S., to Guy Isnard, specialist in forgeries and counterfeits in art. 5 September 1957 and 13 February 1959. 2 pp. ¼ in-4. Preserved envelopes. Small effrangures. "[...] A collaborator of Mr. Clot 36 Quai des Orfèvres, telephoned me about a false painting by Camille Pissarro, coming from a swindle affair, asks me what he should do with this painting, destroy it, or return it to the owner. I don't know this painting, by which expert has it been recognized as a fake? I don't know! Would you, on my behalf, given your competence, take a decision, either to destroy the painting or to keep it for your museum of fakes. You would be kind enough to contact Monsieur Clot, because I do not think I will go to Paris at the moment to deal with this matter [...]". "...] I will have some advice to ask you about a painting broker to whom I have entrusted drawings by C. Pissarro and whom I am having trouble recovering ...". Enclosed is the wedding announcement of Hugues Pissarro and Yvonne Marrec. Envelope preserved with very beautiful address, at the same Isnard, probably from the hand of Bernard Buffet.
