COCTEAU, Jean (1889-1963), poète, dramaturge, cinéaste français.
M.A.S. entitled "Louise de Vilmorin". May 5, 1953. 1 p. in-4. Ratures, additions and corrections. Working manuscript of Cocteau's beautiful text on Louise de Vilmorin. "Louise de Vilmorin. Flower girl or flower girl, it is difficult for me not to think of such a name when I watch Louise de Vilmorin living in this Verrière [sic] or even the furniture seems to have grown like plants [she lived in the château de Verrières-le-Buisson]. It is likely that in the vast mysterious grain mill where I once organized a ball for children who call me "uncle", there are furniture seeds and book seeds and seeds of all kinds, which explain the incredible strength with which, in this house, beautiful gestures, wild laughter, dreams, poems, oracles (which distracted people sometimes confuse with puns) grow. In short, it is hard to imagine this Louise writing and using ink. Yet her secret is not to know the demands of her roots, or by what mechanism to make the stains, the colours and the shapes of her petals, and to obtain so many luminous graces with shadows and tears [...]". This text was published in the Revue de Paris in June 1955.
