CHEVALIER, Maurice (1888-1972), chanteur et acteur français.
L.A.S. "Maurice", to Albert Willemetz. S.l.n.d., "Friday". 2 pp. in-4. Monogram printed at the top. "[...] I send you back the words and music of Siniavine [the composer Alec Siniavine] of the Two Momos. I am also sending you the chorus of Mireille, which I think should make it easier for you to give birth to your beautiful child. Mireille asks that you make a verse in four towards her and then make the music for it. My idea, I remind you, would be to sing the first part of the chorus on a lively and passionate rhythm and the second part slowly with an ad lib. So I'll leave you to work and will be happy to see you Monday night at Maxim's at 7 ½ [...]". Albert Willemetz (1887-1964) wrote many operettas, revues and songs, notably for Maurice Chevalier, Mistinguett, Fernandel, Léo Ferré. Willemetz, Mireille and Maurice Chevalier collaborated on a title entitled "Un p'tit air" which came out in 1938. It is very likely that this is the song in question here.
