Signed autograph manuscript of two poems, entitled "Hamlet" and "Cherub". S.l.n.d. 1 p. in-4 oblong. Discreet yellowing of the margins. These are two poems from his first collection of verses, Les Cariatides (Book Three), hymns to youth in homage to Shakespeare and Beaumarchais. "Hamlet Oh, thou couldst wear the noble armour and, blond hero, reap the foes in the sunshine like a ripe harvest, and shine to the very gods likewise in the dust and in the blood vermeil..." "Cherub O Cherub! Youth, ecstasy, love, Thou, whom Rosina undresses in playing, Thou wilt awake and laugh in the daytime, And followest, fair angel with the air of a girl, Affrighted by her black mantilla..."
